Lawn Jam: 2010

Come join us Saturday, June 26th, 2010 for the 7th Annual Lawn Jam summer festival, a fun-raiser for Our Community Place.  Meet us at 17 E. Johnson Street in Harrisonburg, Virginia from noon till dark.  It’s mostly free, by donation, and pay-what-you-will (with a couple things we’re charging for).

All Day

  • The Redistribution of the Wealth Yard Sale (pay what you will)

  • Volleyball: Free Play and Tournament of Champions (Tournament starts at 4:00pm)egg toss
  • Horseshoe Tournament: sign-up at info booth (up to 2:00pm)
  • Slowest Bike Race (1:30pm)
  • Gus Bus (From 3:00pmish)
  • Children’s Field:  Circus, JamBoree – Free Kiddie Musical rifts, Sandbox of Dreams, Clay Sculpture and ‘Make Your Own’ Juggling Balls (until 5:00pm)
  • Fire Truck (12:00pm to 2:00pm)
  • Water Balloon Toss (3:00pm)
  • Burlap Sack Race (4:30pm)
  • Musical Chairs (5:30pm)
  • Supper: free (6:00pm)
  • Live Auction: called by Doug Howdyshell (7:00pm to 8:00pm)

Bring your kids out for the Fire Truck, Gus Bus and the other amazing activities on the day!

Food is extra free!

Love volleyball? Get up a team for the double-elimination tournament starting at 4pm and going throughout the evening.  4 to 6-person, co-ed.  Only $25 per team and there are prizes for the winners.

Raffle items are a lot of fun too! Win gift certificates and items from lots of local businesses like Taste of Thai, The Little Grill, The Dayton Farmers Market, Earth & Tea Cafe, Mr. J’s, Old Dominion Coffee Company, Smokin’ Pig, Galley, Guitar & Amp, and others.  Tickets are only 50 cents each.

We’ve got some awesome Auction Items for ya’ll to bid on this year including an Assisted Sky Dive,  Hand-Crafted Jewelry, beautiful Silver Bracelets, a Dinner for Two at the Joshua Wilton House, a Date Package in Staunton, a revolutionary ‘Balance Bike’ for kids and more . .

We can use your help all day long (and in the days leading up to as well).  bake saleYou could always . .

  • Bring Items by for the Free Yard Sale.  We like to call it the Redistribution of the Wealth Sale. You can bring items by anytime.  All “purchases” will be by donation only.
  • Bring Food Because It’s Free!  If you’d like to donate anything for lunch or supper, give us a heads-up.
  • Bring Your Used (or Broken) Electronics.  Goodwill will have an electronics recycling scene you can contribute to.

And lastly, but certainly not leastly, volunteers are needed for the day-of.  Please let us know if you can come and help.  We’ll throw a volunteers pizza party so we can get organized for the event.
