OUR COMMUNITY FEASTS
Our community feasts all year long, every day of the week; so much that no one need go hungry even as much as a single meal. If a meal is not being prepared here, for breakfast, lunch, or dinner (the latter not certain every day of the week), you can always grab some leftovers or fix yourself something from our pantry. We continue to welcome all the generous donations of food that continue to make this seeming largesse on our part possible. Those who might wish to help with any of the fixings of meals that go on here should check out our plug-in page.
Free public meals are offered throughout the week in the Harrisonburg area (see resource guide).
Beyond the day-to-day meals for all, OCP has a full slate of special meals throughout the year, starting with . .
Free Food for All Soup Kitchen – Mondays at Noon
Every Monday at Noon at the OCP: Free for anyone in the world. This is a cooperative community meal open to participation by all. We start cooking at 10am, eat family-style at noon, and clean up til 2. Come on down for a great meal and a fun time, not to mention horseshoes and volleyball. Soup Kitchen will no longer be held at the Little Grill (starting July 7, 2008). See photos here of the last one at Little Grill and at Flickr for the first one at OCP.
Friends of OCP – Quarterly
Four times a year OCP hosts a special dinner for our extended family of friends, supporters, and affiliate organizations. Our next meeting will be Monday, May 4th starting at 6pm. Come share a great Soup Kitchen style meal, check out the building, catch up on what’s been happening with the board, with the day to day operations and with our affiliate organizations. Bring something only if its easy and you really want to–dinner will be provided.
Night Out!! – September 4, 2010
Saturday from 5:00-8:00pm.
OCP is inviting you to a Night Out, where you can get a delicious meal, not have to clean up afterward, AND support our good works all at the same time.
Expect a cozy, candlelit dining atmosphere and a delicious chef-prepared menu. All while the in-house OCP community crew – waiting, bussing, cooking, washing dishes, etc.
We’ve got light music for ya, too!!
For your dining pleasure, we are preparing a meal full of flavorful choices–four courses in all.
Instead of choosing to go out to just any restaurant that night, join this delightful OCP fundraiser. Bring a friend, bring family, bring the one you love the most and experience Our Community Place’s Night Out.

Come and experience this unique night when OCP becomes a restaurant! Help raise much-needed funds to keep this community moving along the road to personal growth and community well-being while getting a delicious meal at the same time! Suggested donation is $15/person. 25% of proceeds go to help La Gonave, a community in Haiti, where folks usually eat one plate of rice every other day. Holidays – Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter
OCP continues to put on special Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter meals almost as an extension of the Soup Kitchen, except that the eatin’s a cut above. We usually get donated numerous turkeys and hams, so many we sometimes have a hard time figuring out how to cook them all. But we do, and then we all have a feast to which all are welcome.
